Paid Parental Leave

The government-funded Paid Parental Leave scheme provides financial support for parents following the birth or adoption of a child, with pay at the National Minimum Wage. Conditions apply.

• Parental Leave Pay for a child born or adopted before 1 July 2023 can get up to 18 weeks, which is 90 payable days.
• Parental Leave Pay for a child born or adopted from 1 July 2023 can get up to 20 weeks, which is 100 payable days.

Employers receive funds from the Department of Human Services and pay eligible employees in the same way they would normally pay salary or wages.
